Khalil Rabah

Khalil Rabah (b. 1961, Ramallah, Palestine) studied Architecture and Fine Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington, USA. His most recent solo exhibitions include Sharjah Art Foundation, Sharjah (2022); Kunstverein Salzburg (2022); Casa Árabe, Madrid (2016); Kunsthaus Hamburg (2015); e-flux, New York, (2013); and Beirut Art Center (2012). In addition to major group shows, including Desert X Al Ula (2022); Centre Pompidou, Paris (2020); Lahore Biennale (2020); Jameel Arts Center, Dubai (2019); Manifesta 12 Palermo (2018); the Sharjah Biennial (2017); the Marrakech Biennale (2016); the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (2014); the Thessaloniki Biennial (2013); Mori Art Museum, Tokyo (2012); Mathaf, Doha (2010); and the Venice Biennale (2009). Read more

Rabah is the initiator and artistic director of the Riwaq Biennale and a co-founder of Al Ma’mal Foundation for Contemporary Art in Jerusalem. He served on the curricular committee of Ashkal Alwan’s Home Workspace Program in Beirut, Lebanon from 2011 to 2015. Over the years, his work has been acquired by major institutions including MACRO, Rome; The British Museum, London; The Guggenheim, Abu Dhabi; Mathaf, Doha; Kunsthaus Zurich and The Sharjah Art Foundation. His first monograph, edited by Anthony Downey, was published by Sharjah Art Foundation and Hatje Cantz in 2022. He is a finalist of the Vera List Center’s 2022–2024 Jane Lombard Prize for Art and Social Justice and has a major solo exhibition set to open on October 30, 2023 at Fondazione Merz, Turin.
