_______________

We are happy to invite you to the third solo exhibition of Christian Hahn in our gallery in Hamburg.
Christian Hahn (born 1969 in Nuremberg) participated in 2005 in : the exhibition “Geschichtenerzähler” in the Hamburger Kunsthalle , in "Fraktale" in the Palast der Republik-Berlin , in the Kunstmuseum Bonn and in the Kunstverein Dortmund; the Hamburger Kunsthalle and the Essl collection, Vienna bought several paintings.

Christian Hahn´s paintings are sometimes figurative, sometimes abstract. They are collages of persons, animals and things. His works relate to computer worlds, they are fictional, futuristic and surrealistic utopias.

He is interested in narrative and illusionistic aspects, which he emphasizes by the use of formal references to comic strips and media illustrations. His motives , the mixture of things that do not belong together as well as the choice of colours in his oil paintings reflect the zeitgeist, the present , the future... His paintings are optical suggestions that can be filled with meanings, although their visual and textual classification may not directly open up to the viewer. The pictures appear almost three-dimensional, but they don´t have a center or a clearly defined perspective. They are deconstructed and seem to drift outside the image border, than inside again; they strive to the middle of the earth or further to the outer space.

The newest paintings in our exhibition clearly show a development away from the subject of the fairy-tale to a more specified and realistic statement.
